AMX

This set includes two AMX Light tanks, two optional AA MGs, and two Tank Commanders. Post-1948 war, major powers imposed an arms embargo to prevent future Middle East conflicts. However, during the Suez Crisis, France swiftly equipped Israel with enhanced Sherman tanks and new AMX-13 light tanks. The AMX-13, also known as the AMX, features a powerful gun akin to the Panther tank, achieved through an innovative oscillating-turret design. The gun is fixed to the top turret half, allowing a twelve-round autoloader to feed directly into the rear. The top half of the turret tilts back and forth on the bottom half, elevating and depressing the entire weapon system. While this design eliminates a crew member and reduces turret size, it has drawbacks. The autoloader is slower than a human loader, and once the twelve rounds are used, the tank must retreat out of range while the crew reloads, taking 15 minutes or more. Coupled with its light protection, this led to the AMX being used primarily for reconnaissance in the 1967 war. Miniatures are supplied unpainted and may require assembly.
